Nancy is the best. I clocked her at about 3.7 seconds getting my ketchup for me. The mixture of an apple juice bottle flipped upside down into fresh squeezed lemonade was a nice touch too! I guess it was actually a Corona upside down inside of a Margarita. I apparently ordered this. Crazy how the world works. If you've ever seen a Skittles commercial, the end of the rainbow is undoubtedly here. All kidding aside, fantastic service, amazing bartender, great atmosphere.

I'll start with the good because that's a short list for sure! Good wait staff, good cocktails... Umm yeah. That's it. First, the fried rice and pad Thai. Both the rice and the pad Thai were abysmal!!!! They were first of all nowhere near what they should taste like, so much garlic in that rice that one could maybe knock out a dragon with that breath. The chicken in the pad thai.... Beyond dry!!! Seriously. Seemed like someone cooked it for at least a couple of hours after it was perfectly done.... I doused it in at least 3 different sauces just to be able to chew it! And as far as the bowl choices go. Disappointing. And the sauces.... No chilli oil? No garlic oil on there? What's with that? I love Mongolian BBQ and the basic sauces I'd find were missing here! I can't go on! And won't be going back here either! Its a shame, I was really optimistic about finding my go-to Mongolian BBQ spot!!!

Service was horrendous, for a food allergy eating there can be a bit dangerous in the first place - but to be growled at and treated like a disease was a humongous slap in the face. The person at the secondary grill treated me as if I was diseased when I told them of my allergy to mushrooms. His prompt response was for me to "tell the guys at the grill" after being asked politely from the grillers to go to the secondary grill. After trying to explain to the rude attendant at the secondary grill I was directed back there, "I don't know what you want me to do about it." I promptly dropped my bowl and sauce at the counter and got my family members out of the restaurant. Over seven years of being a loyal patron, I will not be coming back there, ever, after my food allergy not being taken seriously.

I can't give zero stars? This happened this past Sarurday in the bar area... The service was horrendous. The waitress/bartender was very rude. They ran out of rice and she told me they were making more. Twenty minutes later she says it will be done soon. Ten minutes later she comes back with a box for my cold food and says she will speak to her manager. Another ten minutes passes and she says my meal is free and gave 5 dollars off. She went on to tell me "you need to understand machines break and you can't always get what you want, this is life." I just wanted the food I came for and to pay for good service. I didn't come to get free anything...I'll never return because of that waitress.
Love this place. Children under 3 eat for free. I got one full bowl of stir fry and a very large Long Island iced tea and fed my little one for under $20. Lost one star because I wasn't thrilled by the service. People were a tad rude with things like helping opening the doors even seeing that I had two small kids with me, our waitress was slightly unpleasant but not horrible either. Great food, not so great service.

This place needs to get sanitized, scrubbed down and power washed inside the building. I couldn't believe how bad it was. I supposed it was safe enough, I didn't get sick. But the table was nasty, silver ware looks as if they never cleaned not just on the table also in the soup area. The food bar had seafood mixed in next to the steak and chicken. The serving handle in the other containers, just a mess. The floor was greasy, dirty and clutter with stuff. So it was early , no excuse not to be fairly clean. O.k. don't want to be a hater, the salad was fair, but dressing tasted watered down , my friend enjoyed the steak (I wish I should have gotten). At first glance salad was all I was to trust, but I decided to try a bowl of the steak and vegetables with garlic. I ate enough to be sociable. Couldn't wait to leave. I just couldn't figure out why this place gets packed. I would like to know why people would sacrifice sanitation for a alternative style of eating environment. They cook your bowl of food on a cast iron grill , located at rear of building. The waiter was ok, he did his job fair enough. I have given up second chances to restaurants, but not to sure about any time soon. This is what I would expect in Detroit.

This place is pretty good. There is a wide variety of food options, for both meat eaters and vegetarians. If you do it right you can stack a lot of food into the provided bowls, and you can also eat a salad on the side for a pretty modest price. There are an array of meats and seafood (I enjoy the chicken), veggies, and also a variety of sauces and spices to add flavor. The food is always cooked well enough and you get a tiny bit of entertainment from the guys who fry it. It's do-it-yourself stir fry with whatever you want, and that is why the place is still open and successful. When you're there for the 10th time, the appeal kind of loses its luster. Sometimes people just want to show up to a restaurant, order their meal and have it brought to them. Obviously, the appeal of this place is to do it all yourself and have fun with friends and family. The prices are solid, they have an assortment of beers (that are getting better with IPA's) and one bowl will fill you up. Give it a try for sure if you've never been, and if you do you will most likely go back afterward.

I'm not big on buffet style restaurants, however, this was really good!! Tons of options to choose from with veggies, meats, & sauces. Vegan, vegetarian, food allergy friendly! & the service was awesome as well. Visited the BD Mon in Sterling Heights on Hall Rd.

I have been couple of times. Restaurant is great and food is amazing . Serves well. Worth for the cost . Have wide variety of food options . For veggies they use separate sticks to cook . Many types of meat and soups as well !!

I love BD's. However, this location left me feeling like I received only part of what I paid for. Compared to the Gratiot /12 Mile location, the meat selection was paltry, the salad bar was a sad excuse. We won't be coming to this location again.

My fiance and I went to BD's tonight for dinner. It's great! We're on a low carb diet and found plenty of choices that were okay for us to have. The guys working the grill were entertaining as always and the service was excellent.

I have been a customer of this restaurant since it opened. It is not very expensive and you make your own food your way. The waitstaff is nice. It is quality meat, seafood and vegetables. They offer a large variety of seasonings and sauces. The food is always fresh and very good. This is one of my all time favorite restaurants.

I haven't been to a bd's in probably 12-13 years. Wow I miss the feel of this place before it became a chain and opened up everywhere. There was one shop in Royal Oak and that's it. I am going to go a bit weird here - but who the heck designed that logo and menus and displays around the restaurant. Amateur. I like that they have expanded their menu and offer brown (yet really dry) rice. We were there for a fund raiser, so kudos to them for doing that for the local community - but overall, just not that impressed.

I love this place. It's a fun restaurant to eat at, and it's quite entertaining as well. You watch your food being cooked right in front of you. They BBQ-ers (I don't know their technical term there) throw the swords in the air and do tricks and it's fun to watch. If you want to tip you get to hit the gong. There's so much variety. If you go, I definitely recommend doing the all you can eat buffet. It's worth it, and you'll keep wanting to go up for more.

My idea of fast food is BD's. This is our fast food on a busy, late night. We can all find something we like, make it healthy and enjoyable and be in and out FAST! :) I did try a $4 margarita last night (Thursday) and it was a mix and pretty flavorless. The selection of fresh veggies is decent. The meat/seafood selection is excellent. The sauce/spice combinations and selection are ridiculous in their profusion!!!! Fun, filling and FAST! I like that they have white and brown rice. I'd like it if they offered lettuce wraps too. They have a soup/salad "bar" but a salad bar with Mongolian seems a bit overkill to me and the soups are very blah. Overall I'm glad to have the option of a fast meal that I can enjoy and know it is good for me too. I do find myself a bit worried about the meats/seafoods/veggies and how many tongs touch/retouch all of the items and the sanitation concerns. They must have that under control right? :::hopeful look:::

They will not be hiring me anytime soon to make up new flavors!!!! Yesterday was my first visit here, and both myself and my husband were very excited. We were seated promptly and our order was taken quite quickly. The waiter was great about explaining how the process works, so that was nice. I first ordered some of the cheese dip. Having just moved here from Florida I have yet to find a place that serves the white delicious cheese. We went up to get our bowl going and the line was quite long, but moved at a decent pace. There were different meats, seafood items, noodles, and veggies to choose from. I didn't notice the cards placed right before you get in the meat section that provided ideas for your sauces and spices. If you've never been here I highly recommend you find and use these cards!!!! Because I didn't see the cards I just filled my sauce cup with two ladles of soy (you may want to use 3 ladles pending what flavor you're looking for). The wait was a bit long to get your stuff cooked. No worries though, the manager was back there helping so at least they were working hard to get it moving. When we got back to our seats the cheese dip was there, and sadly cold. To be honest I really didn't think about it as we were standing in line. I would not order an app if the lines are looking a little long. The taste of the cheese, while nice, wasn't at all what I was looking for. Again, not bad just not what I'm in search of. I didn't send it back because I am sure it was served hot, we just took longer than they expected. My food was, eh! My husband loved his. I picked through and ate the pieces of steak, but there was no flavor. The reason they still get 4 stars is because the lack of flavor was due to my lack of investigating and paying attention. I HATE wasting food and try not to do so as I know someone not as fortunate would have thoroughly enjoyed the meal I was pushing to the side, but that's what I did. We went up to try a second bowl. I decided to go easy with chicken and fajita veggies. My mistake was of course the sauces. I couldn't pass up the yummy buffalo one, but I should have. My husband loved his second bowl filled with seafood, veggies, and teriyaki sauce. So in all it was good, my husband would say great. I suggest if this is your first time you use the flavor cards. Because I wanted the salad bar (which was good, but nothing to write home about) we got the unlimited bowl. It did come in handy since my first bowl was blah, but I wouldn't actually need to eat more than one bowl. My husband however, was able to get down two and a half, but he didn't eat soup or salad.

i just went there yesterday for the first time with my mom and daughter and i wasn't too impressed ,,,,,, because for the price i spent there ..... i still wasn't full ..... i could've ate two more bowls ..... my daughter stacked her bowl kinda high ...... i just put in a lot of scallops and octopus in mine with noodles ..... and the waiter forgot to bring my girl her alcoholic drink , but still that wasn't the problem . i don't mind coming back , but once every two months or so ...... my daughter liked it though .

My husband, mother, and I visited this restaurant tonight. The experience had both good and bad moments. First thing when we entered the restaurant we were basically ignored by the hostess who was busy flirting with the customer in front of us. Even after he walked away she completely ignored of for several minutes until she was good and ready to acknowledge our presence. Once we were seated, our waitress was there quickly to take our drink orders and after that our food orders, but once that was done she seemed to forget we were there. They sat us at a table in a far corner and it was quite cold. We went to get our salads before we made our bowls, the salad bar and all of the other food choice areas were messy and dirty looking. People dropped food everywhere and dripped sauce all over every surface and no one cleaned it up, and the counter where we waited for our bowls to be prepared was sticky and I got stuff all over my sleeves. Once we got back to our table we discovered that our fried rice and tortillas had been delivered, both were cold. We asked to have the fried rice replaced, the waitress took it away and then didn't come back. When we were nearly done eating she returned with our rice (a little late) and refilled our drinks, which were all empty or nearly so, for the first time since they were delivered. Also once we started eating I noticed things (namely shrimp) in my dish which I had not chosen. This was not a huge deal as I just removed the shrimp from my dish, but what if I had been allergic??? This could have been a huge deal, and someone could get seriously ill. The price of the fried rice was ultimately removed, and overall the food was good. Whether the good outweighed the bad, and whether or not we will return remains to be seen.

STIR FRY LOVERS HEAVEN! This was in my top five when thinking about restaurants to visit that we don't have in California. Their selection is HUGE! I have yet to find one as large here. They have every type of seafood, meat, or poultry you can think of, veggies galore, and way too many sauces to be legal. You also get to pile your bowl as high as you please, without having anything fall over of course. I alway enjoy coming here. And if you're looking for a yummy sauce mix, try teriyaki with buffalo sauce and throw in some chopped garlic. Yummmm!!!

My mom and I decided to pay a visit to our local BD Mongolian Grill tonight. We both ordered a coke and the one bowl. The cokes had no charge for a refill but at $2.25 a piece we should have stuck with water. The One Bowl came with rice, soup, salad and tortilla's. You really got a lot of food for $12.99 - but I never can eat that much. The soups were chili that was devoid of any broth and stuck to the bottom of the pot as it was almost empty. The other soup was broccoli cheddar...it was ok. My mom had the salad bar, it was ample and fresh. Overall we are glad we went, but it ended up costing us $32.39 + tip for serving ourselves a huge bowl of 'What the Heck Did I Make?'. I'll stick with restaurants were there are real cooks/chef's. For the really hungry, big wallets and good at mixing food, this is great place to eat at. I ordered the one bowl that cost $13.00 -- um, technically it was $12.99 A whole lotta food came with that one bowl. I piled on beef, shrimp, pork, a variety of fresh vegetables and mixed a crazy concoction of god knows what kind of sauce. Basically I made myself a great big heap of, heck I'll name it, A MESS. I ate 1/2 of my mess and boxed the other to take home to my poor unsuspecting dog.

I like Mongolian when the mood strikes. I like the idea of creating your own stirfry. Like someone mentioned, it's hard to review a restaurant when your basically creating your own dish, so it's your own fault if you don't like it. But there are a few things that are worth mentioning. As someone mentioned, there is a charge for fried rice, which, for the price you pay for your meal, surprises me. I always thought the place was rather pricey. I went for dinner the other evening, and before tip, with a beer (during happy hour) my meal was $18, and that was with the one bowl price, not the unlimited. It seems a little pricey. It did include the soup and salad bar, however the soup I chose (broccoli cheese) was disgusting and cold. To me, that's unacceptable. I like the fact they offer various items to eat with your stir fry. You can get tortillas, lettuce wraps, white rice, and brown rice at no additional charge. They also have excellent selections of proteins, meats, veggies, sauces and seasonings which is definitely fun. And for some reason the food just tastes better coming off that grill. Lastly, something that always irked me about this place, is the fact you choose your meat first. Think about it. You put your meat in your bowl, and then walk over to the veggies and start placing your veggies in your bowl. Now I don't know about the rest of the people out there, but I've worked in restaurants and I see how careless and gross people get the minute they dine outside of their home. I'd hate to see how many people have touched the veggie tongs to their meat while putting it in the bowl and then just returning the contaminated tongs to the veggies. Maybe they put veggies in their bowl, only to realize they put too much, so they return the veggies, contaminating the rest of the batch. This just screams contamination issues to me, but that's only my paranoid mind working. Other than that, BD's is not bad.

This is one of my favorite restaurants. I've been a fan of BDs for years, I use to go to the one near MSU and then when they opened in Royal Oak and now Hall rd. Food is always fresh and I love making my own creations. I usually prefer chicken, seafood or the steak. I don't like spicy so my favorite sauces and spices are teriyaki, lemon, soy sauce, ginger, garlic, seasoning salt and peanuts. The service is always top notch and I have a 5 yr old who loves this place too. It's nice that he gets to pick what he wants, veggies, meat, salad. If I had to complain I would say change up the sauces or add a few more... Just because I like change. Otherwise keep up the good work!

Mongolian BBQ is the perfect combination of fusion and gluttony. They are popular for their free refill meals. The restaurant is set-up like a large buffet of raw foods. You pile them into your bowl and give them to the chefs at the large open grill in the center of the restaurant. The grill chefs then grill up your combination of goodies and plate it for you. You return to your table, and repeat if desired. This is a large location, in a stand-alone building. There is a full bar (they will push drinks on you), as well as lots of space for groups. Since it is located on Hall Rd. the restaurant will become jammed on the weekends. The crowd is mostly families and the atmosphere is always loud. If you're coming here to relax forget it. You're coming here to get your grub on.

I find this review difficult to do... Why? Because you create your own dish, they cook it for you, and then you take it back to the table and eat it. It's your own fault if it's under-seasoned, if the combination of vegetables is wrong or if you got the wrong kind of meat. You're totally in control of what you eat - good or bad - so honestly, I really don't think there's much to complain about. They have almost every type of meat/protein that on could want, a vast selection of vegetables, and an additional array of sauces and spices. Ultimately, this makes it one of the perfect places for groups who have differing food-choice ideas.... totally accommodating. Noisy, yes, but so are sports bars. Overall, I can't say that the service during my most recent visit was stellar, but really... all the servers do is manage plates, fill water glasses, manage appetizer orders and make sure what ever you order is making it to your table from the bar. Not the first place on my list, but it works for what it is.

Very unimpressed with this location. The food was typical (good), except when they ask if you want rice or tortillas, and then offer fried rice "for a little more", be aware its an extra $5 on top of $13/person for one bowl of food. Also, in the one trip the 2 of us made to get food before going to the grill, that should take a maximum of 3 minutes, we were asked at least 5 times how we were doing, and if we needed help. After we asked the last guy if they just got reprimanded for not talking to customers enough, since we'd been asked to the point of damn near harassment, he launched into a 5 minute monologue that no, they hadn't, theyre just friendly, and like to talk, and like people, and like to talk to people, and talk to people, and then talk some more and... We had to be rude and walk away because he honestly did. not. stop.

Awesome food. I have never been to a Mongolian BBQ before, do I didn't know what to expect. The servers were friendly, and the chefs were very engaging. It is a very family friendly place with tables for big parties. The food itself was delicious and there are so many different choices that you can get something different each time. I hope they put one in somewhere in the Philadelphia region so I can try it again!

Mongolian Barbeque invented DIY stirfry in southeast MI almost 20 years ago. By now, the model is so famous that it has become a brand and its reputation precedes it - pretty much everyone should be familiar with the concept, whether they've been there or not, and it has inspired some copycat places as well. The idea seems cool when you first hear about it, but I tired of it eventually. Unless you're super creative, you don't always want to create your own menu every you sit down for dinner - this was the case for me, even though a friend has described me as a culinary intermediate. This may be true for others as well, since they're diversifying and offering fancy desserts and drinks, and other foods such as Pho, instead of relying exclusively on what made them famous. This place gains points for the great staff, especially our middle aged Italian waitress, and being a fun place for a group, but loses points for not having the incredible tomato bisque that I had at the Mongo in Royal Oak several years ago, and being a little more expensive than I'm used to.

One of my favorite places to eat. My family and I try to eat here a few times a month. The staff is always friendly and fun!! The food is fresh & wonderful everytime. I love to create a meal with exactly what I want without having to tell the waiter to add this or minus that. Love it!!

Fun, Fun, Fun. The restaurant is loud, the bar is packed, and the waitstaff is over the top friendly. If you've never been to a Mongolian BBQ, then buckle up, cause this is not for the fan of sit down restaurants. It's a do it yourself place and you have to do a little walk thru first. There's a soup and salad bar, but I skip those. Go directly for the meat section. They are all there, including a good amount of seafood. You take a bowl, fill it with the meat (s) you want, but don't over fill it, you want some veggies to go with that!! Head over to the fresh veggie area, and help yourself to your favorites. I get some pea pods, white onions, mushrooms, baby corn, and I take an egg (more on that later) head over to the "seasoning" area. This is where it gets tricky. You know by now some of those sauces are just not going to taste good together. But experiment a little, remember this is all you can eat, if you don't like it, go back again. I take a little Mongo Mushroom Sauce, a little soy sauce, a touch of scezeuan (SP) sauce, a touch of garlic, a little cayenne pepper, a touch of ginger. Now turn around with your heaping bowl and head to the big grill in the middle. The air traffic controller then tells you where to stand. You hand the bowl to the cooks who then take it, pour it on the grill and they take this long sticks and stir it for about 5 minutes while they work on other peoples at the same time. After it cooks for about 5 minutes, they take your sauce and pour it on, cook it again for about 3 minutes and then, TA DA, they add the egg and mix it in with everything else. With one big swoosh, they slam that sucker into a bowl and hand it over to you. Enjoy! Take a big group and try everyone's, they should all be different but YUMMY!! Did I mention they serve Zodiac here too? Try it in their specialty drink: The Mood Ring. Wow!

I'm a huge fan! I can remember dining in Royal Oak the second week it was open. The owner was so excited about bring this concept to Michigan. We spoke to him about franchising and through the years we have always made it a point to bring guests visiting from other countries, it definitely left lasting impressions. We have celebrated many a milestone at various locations and can't say one bad thing even as the company has been sold and changes have occurred I stand by : if your meal was bad, try again. If it is consistently bad ask for help. Don't mix the meat. Consider a cooking class. If you are a veteran diner bring a group of friends and eat family style, pass all the plates and enjoy someone else's concoctions. BON Appétit!

Love this place. Children under 3 eat for free. I got one full bowl of stir fry and a very large Long Island iced tea and fed my little one for under $20. Lost one star because I wasn't thrilled by the service.

I've been here many times and although it's been about 6 months since I was last here, I love this place. The grill workers are always entertaining. Food is great and you always know exactly what to expect when you walk in.

Very friendly and best service, my family and I go there for so many occasions. Love this place!

Good stuff....I love that you get to pick everything that is on your plate:) Meat, veggies, spices....can't beat that!

Great mgmt., great bartender, great food and dessert and now has Freestyle Beverages, its one of my favorites all time for the money and the soup/salad bar is great too. Cheesecake factory cheesecake without having to drive to Livonia either! Love this place.

I really like the place not over expensive staff very nice been here few times I would recommend.

Fresh food, good service, wide variety of veggies, meats, and sauces. It's noisy and family friendly.

Lots of food at a reasonable price. Very nice selection of sauces also

We had to be rude and walk away because he honestly did. not. stop.

To many extra charges now.

(5)Crystal S.
Visiting friends in Michigan and they took us here for lunch, it was outstanding. Watching the chefs was nice little show and the food was cooked perfectly. Very friendly staff and reasonably priced. Esp the all you can eat bowl. I would love one in the Philly area.

Love it!!
(5)Carlo B.
Wow!
